Dhal - Lenses

Ingredients for: 2 servings


Shan´shi ingredients

Additional ingredients

  • 100ml of water
  • 100 g of red lenses
  • 1 glove of garlic
  • 1/2 onion
  • 300 g of leaf spinach
  • 1/2 tsp. of coriander finely ground
  • salt


  • Peel and dice the garlic and the onion.
  • Bring the coconut milk with 100ml of water to boil. Cook the red lenses with garlic, cumin, coriander and curcuma for about 15 minutes until the lenses are soft.
  • Meanwhile mince the leaf spinach. Heat up the groundnut oil in a wok and fry the onion for 1-2 minutes. Add the leaf spinach and fry with stirring.
  • Mash the lenses and add water if necessary. Season according to taste with salt.
  • Serve the Dhal on plates and place the spinach on it.


Serve with pita.
